Well, here we go. A week in the life of the Lane household. (Just tuning in? Here’s what I’m doing this week.)
My day started early. I got up at 4:30 to feed Miss E. and then just when I was about to drift back to sleep, I heard the pitter patter of two year old feet. UGG!
For whatever reason, Bug has been waking up in the middle of the night (anywhere between 1 and 5) and coming into our room. If it’s before 5, we take him back up to his room, but after 5, I drowsily pull him into bed with us. After about 10 minutes of tossing and turning, I hear him fake snoring (imitating dad no less). “Bug, please be quiet.” “But I want TO SNORE!!” Awesome.
At 6:00, Bug and Daddy got up to eat breakfast and I rolled out of bed at 7.
Our morning started with Jake and Dora.

Miss E. woke up around 7:30. Then we went downstairs for mommy’s breakfast and Bug’s second breakfast. All was well until we spilled milk all over our outfit.
After we put on a new outfit and avoided a minor tantrum over turning off the tv, we were off to school. (Bug goes two mornings a week.)
After Miss E and I dropped him off, she went down for her morning nap and I settled into my Monday a.m. routine — coffee and computer work. This entailed some work for SCI and a bit of blog writing.

After about an hour and a half, baby was up, fed and mama needed to get dressed. Then I made some lunch for the little man and back into the car we went. We picked Bug up from his class and went outside to where they have picnic tables and a small play set. We had a nice lunch with some friends and headed home. I was sure nap was going to be easy.
Miss E went down easy-peasy. Bug, not so much. We read a story and he decided we needed to brush his teeth. Ok, fine. Then it was…
“I STILL hungy!”
“Don’t leave mom!”
Finally, I made it downstairs and got one load of laundry folded.

I was almost done when I heard noise coming from the bonus room. Yup, he was out of bed and OUT of his room.
One angry toddler and mad mama later…he was asleep on the floor of his room. Fine, I’ll take it. (He slept two hours.)
I actually got to watch last week’s America’s Next Top Model. SHOCKER!
Then baby was back up and super smiley…until she realized was super hungry. My milk was not cutting it so we actually had a small bottle too. We played a bit but she was a crank pot so back to bed she went.
After naps, afternoon snack and a quick walk (we chased Captain Hook down the street), it was time for daddy to come home and to start dinner. But Miss E had other plans. She screamed the entire time I made her sweet potatoes. Apparently I was starving her.

Luckily Bug was entertained by Donald and Mickey on YouTube, so he wasn’t super annoyed that I couldn’t play with him.

Dinner was late…almost 8pm by the time we finished, which is pretty unusual for us now that I’m home. But we had a few tantrums to deal with before it was on the table – one over not being allowed any more apple juice and one over not being able to reopen the garage door. We finally got everyone fed and then it was off to bed for the wee one. (Best part of dinner? Watching Bug drink water out of his “fancy” cup!)

Daddy and Bug played for a bit and then it was (FINALLY) time for stories. WHEW! I’m exhausted.

My favorite kid quotes of the day:
“Peace out pee pee!”
“I need my pribacy peez”
Things I’ll do differently:
I didn’t take as many notes today as I would have liked of the fun, cute things that happened. I’ll be better throughout the week. I also won’t give so much of a play by play, but it’s just the way this Monday panned out.
Til tomorrow.

Big Big ((HUGS)) my dear. WOW! all the memories of the girls being babies came flooding back as I had quit my corporate job right after my maternity leave and I remember those hectic and crazy days. I always counted down the hours till hubby walked in the front door.
I love the fancy cup hehe!
LOVE the fancy cup! That’s hysterical!
Peace out pee pee is about the funniest thing I’ve heard all morning!
I think each of my days will be documenting differently too. Like today I plan to do a time-lapse of our lunch routine. I love the tickle time… so cute!
“But I want TO SNORE.” Best thing I’ve heard in awhile. Love the photos of you on the laptop, the baby on the changing table and of course the very upset baby about the sweet potatoes.
Never would have thunk I would find this so inidspseanble.
