I work in a pretty busy, hectic industry. No day is the same and I feel like we’re always running toward the next awesome project or event.
But nothing is quite as hectic as the hour and a half between picking up my son at school and putting him to bed. It’s utter chaos almost every night. Somestimes it’s perfect chaos filled with laughter and sillyness; other nights it’s horrid chaos with lots of crying and tantrums.
Tonight went a little something like this…
We arrive home a happy camper, eager to play with mommy and daddy!
Then we quickly want to be entertained…to read…look at pictures….listen to music.
After about 10 minutes, we start to get a bit cranky. Dinner needs to be made and little man likes to be underfoot. Mommy and Daddy are horrible about planning dinner in advance (MUST WORK ON THIS) and little man does not like to be ignored while dinner cooks/bakes.
After awhile, we really want to play with Mommy’s iPhone to see all the farm animals.
Then we cry because Mommy takes it away and because dinner isn’t being made fast enough.
Then we get into our high chair and are SUPER happy again because we totally love to eat.
Then we get really mad about having a bib on so we rip it off and it’s better just to eat with no shirt on.
Whew! Dinner is over. Now it’s bath time. So we take off all our clothes and run around for about 5 minutes before actually getting into the tub.
Bath time is a time for Mommy to get SOAKED as I love to splash.

After bath, we like to play with the mirror and make faces.
(I am so angry as he kept giving himself kisses tonight and I couldn’t capture a single one on camera.)
Before going upstairs, we usually chase little man around the house or he decides to chase the cats
much to their chagrin.
Then it’s off to bed for storytime. One book, maybe two,
or three, or four, could be more.
We turn on the Sleep Sheep, find our paci, and jump into bed.
On special nights, Mommy sings me to sleep.
Night night baby. Mommy and Daddy love you!
He is too cute… you really only have an hour and a half between work and bed?! That makes me so sad! And his mom IS hot!
So cute. I actually love hearing other people's evening routines, especially working moms like myself.
Oh, reading this post made me all misty eyed…I had just put Avi to bed and stopped to read before doing my last story with Cobe…it made me remember how I used to rock and sing to Cobalt at night. It's a bit more interesting juggling two at bed time by myself.
Cobe must had known what I read as he got upset when I tried to leave him room and pleaded, "Mommy, rock? Mommy, rock?" Oh, he melted my heart.
Hold on to these sweet moments…they go too fast…
