A few weeks ago, MommyParties sent out an email soliciting people to host a Nutella Party. I thought “what the hay? I love an excuse to have people over.” and I threw my name in the hat – (totally ignoring the fact that I needed to have the party just a few days shy of my due date….good thing baby girl hung in there.)
I’ve had Nutella before; maybe once or twice. I knew it was good; I just didn’t remember HOW good.
Holy mother! I made waffles and english muffins and had a variety of fruits and it was AH-mazing! My mom even called me the night after the party to tell me she’d already used her coupon. And I had a banana and Nutella sandwich the very next day (and even brought one for lunch this week.)

Must have coffee with a yummy breakfast |
A few things I didn’t know about Nutella:
- Calories are exactly the same as the peanut butter in my pantry.
- It doesn’t contain peanuts or peanut ingredients, nor does it come in contact with peanuts in manufacturing.
- Nutella does not contain any ingredients derived from gluten containing cereal; wheat, barley, rye, oats or triticale.
- Nutella does not contain hydrogenated oil or trans fat.

I am classy like that. |
On weekends, we occasionally will have something “special” for breakfast and I think this just made the list. We’ll add it to our special occasion breakfasts which include cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip pancakes. YUM! (And I promise my family not to always eat it straight from the jar!)
Disclosure: I was sent a party pack from Mommy Parties in exchange for this post. These opinions are my own.
WOW! Are you 100% sure there is ZERO peanut exposure? I checked the label in the store and thought I would have to call the company because Canadian food labels don't have to put that they manufacture foods in factories that process peanuts, etc. I want Keira to try it so badly but with her severe peanut allergy I have been afraid. If she can have it with no danger I'm getting some today!!! I love that stuff!
Laura, it looks like they changed from using peanut oil in 2006. Here is what I found on their website and they absolutely are tauting that there is no peanut exposure.
Q. If your child is allergic to peanuts will they also be allergic to hazelnuts?
A. Not all nut allergies are the same. Peanuts are grown underground and are classed as legumes, while hazelnuts are tree nuts as they grow on trees or bushes. People with peanut allergy may also be allergic to other nuts such as hazelnuts but this does not mean they definitely will be. The prevalence of hazelnut allergy in Australian children is estimated to be 0.18%, compared to 1.9% for peanut allergies. [9] In addition to this information, in 2006 Ferrero changed the ingredients of Nutella. Peanut oil is no longer used.
She is definitely not allergic to tree nuts so she can try it as long as it was not processed in a facility that processes peanuts! It's such a pain finding things that are peanut free but are processed/manufactured in a factory or the same equip. as peanuts. Those by default are unsafe for her. It sucks! I know she would love the stuff!
