Ok, so maybe my title is a bit snarky. But seriously people, I get around 30 pitches a week for our juvenile products and it’s rare that even ONE is worth responding to. Today I got one that was going to give me the pure joy of selecting which of our products they could review. (If you want free product, I almost would rather you just say so.)

And I’m truly not exaggerating. What the hell is going on that some people think companies won’t notice that they put absolutely NO EFFORT into their pitch? It truly baffles me. How about you mention my brand at least once? I’ve been working in this space and with bloggers for over five years now and it’s changed…changed a lot in the past year or so. Not for the better.*
Are you not sure how to pitch? There are dozens upon dozens of posts about the art of the pitch, including one I wrote in January of this year. If those aren’t helping, ask someone.
Anyway, I digress. Today I got a wonderful pitch. It was thoughtful and full of detail. I felt like screaming at my computer “yes, yes, YES!” and then promptly sent it around to my team as a numero uno fabulous example of how to craft a pitch.
Number one, she mentioned my company and the brands she owned and was interested in collaborating on. She told me her goals, what she wanted to get out of the partnership and what we would get out of it (go figure that this is important huh?) It was perfect.
The only negative at all was that I can’t work with her on this particular project. However, it should be noted that my response to her invited a future conversation on how else we might collaborate because she is someone I want to work with.
I want to sing this woman’s praises. I want to put her picture up on my office wall with a big smiley face. I want to dance around shouting her name and yell out “Glory Be!”
I want to….ok, you get my point.
Thank you oh fabulous blogger. After my first pitch of the day, I really need that.
*Please note that I work with some amazing, fabulous, huge hug worthy bloggers. They are talented women and this is not of whom I speak.

Sometimes I forget that you work both sides of the coin. I can't even imagine having to wade through the muck for the goodies.
Can't wait to see you at BlogHer! (and Type-A!)
