I’m lucky to be in the juvenile industry

March 16, 2009 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

Today marks my second official week being back at work after a fabulous 2.5 months at home with my son. It has been a whirlwind trying to get caught back up, and I am slowly making headway in my to-do lists.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had a lot of time to think about how lucky I am to work in the juvenile industry. Not only do I have a fantastic job at a fabulous company, but I am able to tap into so many resources that I might not have otherwise known about.

For instance, without this job, I might not have known to check for the JPMA certification labels on all my major product purchases. With the safety knowledge I’ve gained from this organization, I’ve been able to counsel many a friend on their baby registries.

The other major benefit is having access to all the latest and greatest children’s products. Instead of scouring the net prior to Aidan being born, I simply wandered the aisles at the ABC Expo and teetered around at shows like American Baby Expo and Baby Celebration.
There is definitely A LOT out there; some good and some bad.

Here are a few of my favorites:

lillebaby EuroTote – I know it’s one of our products but it honestly is the BEST item in our house. Without it, my husband and I wouldn’t sleep at all. We are able to put Aidan in it prior to naps and bed time and walk around with him. He nods off…we place him in the bassinet and he isn’t disturbed at all.

Munchkin Safety Duck Tub – Aidan was LOST in our first few baths. It was a struggle to keep him upright as he was constantly slipping down. Enter the Munchkin Duck. He fits perfectly and it is SO much easier to hold him up. He loves it and so do mommy and daddy!

A Swing – We were fortunate to get a hand-me-down swing from a friend. It is a life savor! Without it, I would never eat breakfast or be able to make a pot of coffee! There are several options out there, so if your child likes that motion, I highly recommend it.

CloudB Sleep Sheep – We absolutely have to have some type of white noise to be able to sleep in our house. The first time I put Aidan down to nap with the Sleep Sheep, he was out in a matter of seconds. Our favorite sound is the ocean. I love how it can play for 30 OR 45 minutes. (My husband and I don’t mind it so much either!)

Being a parent is the best thing I’ve ever done. I look forward to seeing what the next few weeks, months and years bring to me…and to the juvenile industry.

I LOVE the duck!! I mean what a party for little Aidan! Okay so I’m really afflicted and my baby is 5 months old now and I still cannot manage to figure out the carrier. I think I need other mommies to help me put her in it one day. I know it will make life easier now that she is a little bigger and getting heavy to carry around in her car seat all the time.
