The Ultimate Banana Bread Recipe

The Ultimate Banana Bread

I have the ultimate banana bread recipe. This recipe was passed down to me from my mom but I have tweaked it to make it my own. It’s the best use of brown bananas (besides freezing them for a smoothie) and the chocolate chips make it a perfect treat. This recipe makes 2 loaves. I freeze one and the other is typically gone within the day. Yep. It’s that good folks! The trick is to mix the dough together in the proper order. If you pour it all into the mixer at once, it just doesn’t turn out right. I have realized that baking from scratch is not difficult when you follow the recipe, but sometimes it takes a few extra minutes.

Making banana bread

Ingredients:

A little bit of Crisco for greasing the pan (butter makes the crust burn in my experience)
1 cup sugar
8 tbsp softened butter
2 eggs
3 bananas
1 tbsp milk
1.5 tsp cinnamon
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
(Optional: Chocolate Chips, Peanut butter chips, Walnuts. Typically I use 2 cups chocolate chips. This time I had 1 cup milk chocolate chips and 1 cup peanut butter chips. Chocolate chips and cinnamon are a necessity for me in banana bread.)

Directions:
Grease the bread pans with Crisco.
Cream sugar & Butter in large bowl with mixers
Add eggs one at a time
In a small bowl mash bananas-set aside
Mix Milk, cinnamon, flour, baking powder, baking sugar in another bowl.
Add mashed bananas to the sugar/butter and egg mixture.
Combine flour mixture into the large bowl slowly and mix until dough is creamy.
Add chocolate chips/peanut butter chips mixture
Top with Walnuts if desired
Bake at 325 for 60-70 minutes. (or until golden brown).

This sounds delicious. Banana bread is one of my absolute favorite things in the world. And now I want some. BADLY.
