Cleaning sensitive skin with Clarisonic #ClearlyClarisonic

Rosacea.

It’s such a bummer. Basically my skin is always red. I’m fairly lucky as it can get really bad for some people. Mine stays right on my cheeks and occasionally eeks it’s way onto my forehead or chin.

There’s not a lot I can do about it. I’ve used lotions, creams, even an antibiotic, but nothing really seems to help. I can occasionally curb it for awhile with a decent moisturizer made for senstive skin (I currently like the Derma-E) but it always comes back.

Then a month or so ago, I was given the opportunity to join up with Clarisonic and test out their new Smart Profile brush.  I was eager but anxious. I’ve been eyeing one for a LONG time but the price tag has kept me from making the leap.

So here I was…ready to take the leap and see what this could do for my skin.

The Smart Profile is Clarisonic’s newest and top of the lines device, cleaning 11x better than hands alone. It can also be used with body and pedi brush heads for a head-to-toe cleanse. It’s safe to use twice a day and only takes 60 seconds for a full face cleanse.

The first few days I could only use it once a day. It was just a little too harsh on my skin. When I did use it, my skin felt amazing, softer than I’ve ever felt it.

Then I started breaking out, which is unusual for me. But a quick email to a Clarisonic rep and she assured me that while it’s not super common, breakouts CAN occur whenever you switch up your skincare routine. I kept at it and the breakouts went away.

But I was still hesitant to use the Smart Profile twice a day since it seemed just a touch abrasive against my poor red skin. That’s when I realized that while the new Smart Profile brush had lots of amazing qualities, it wasn’t my only option.

Enter the Radiance and Cashmere brush heads.

The Radiance brush head is designed to gently cleanse your skin as well as help diminish dark spots. I could immediately tell a difference on my skin when I used it. It didn’t feel harsh nor did it irritate my skin at all.

I used it for a few weeks, twice a day, and was loving my results. Then I did something dumb. I switched up my face cleanser. I almost exclusively use Cetaphil. It’s super gentle on my skin and unless I’m traveling (where I use the Simple Cleansing Cloths) it’s my go-to and has been for awhile. But I had received a sample of something in the mail and thought “What the heck?” and used it for a few days.

Bad idea.

My skin was angry. Not only did the Rosacea flare up more than normal, but I also got a nice break-out to go along with it. Boo hiss.

Luckily I had an extra brush to try as even the Radiance was a bit much on my skin. I popped the Radiance brush off, popped the Cashmere brush on and VOILA! My skin was happy again. This brush head has longer filaments (the hairs) than some of the others and you can feel how much softer it is immediately. It got my face wash super sudsy and I still felt like my skin was getting the cleaning it needed.

Once my skin clears up a bit, I’ll go back to the Radiance Brush Head, but I like knowing I have options since you need to change your brush head every three months. Clarisonic also offers a Sensitive Brush Hed but I haven’t tried it yet.

After that little bump in the road, I should be set. In the two months I’ve been using the Clarisonic device, I’ve noticed a big difference in my skin. I can tell that my forehead expression lines have softened and that is a HUGE deal for me.

Between this and the Active Fit device that my husband now uses, we are customers for life.

Itching to try it out? Hoping to talk a family member into buying it for you for the holidays? You are in luck. I have a 20% coupon code for the first 100 people who use it. Just visit Clarisonic > and enter code PARENTING20 at check-out. Enjoy!

As a Type-A Parent Clarisonic Blogger, I received sample products from Clarisonic and compensation to share information about the product.

I need to stock up on the Radiance and Cashmere brushes for the winter. My skin gets super dry and sensitive, so I know I’ll need to adjust the brush heads.
