Today on Feature Friday, I am thrilled to introduce ya’ll to my friend, Molly. She is extraordinary when it comes to getting your family organized. If you don’t already follow her, I highly recommend it. She’ll keep you on your toes.
So Go Mom Inc started with a planner and has morphed over the last few years. Can you give us a brief synopsis of your journey?
Journey is the perfect word. Looking back over the last 12 years I had no idea how many amazing opportunities would evolve to lead me to this wonderful space we are in today. GO MOM!® Inc. was born as a basement office company with the idea to change the way busy moms manage their time through my invention, The GO MOM!® Planner. Dedicated to helping both brands and moms Outsmart The Chaos™, GO MOM!® Inc. was founded in 2000 and is rooted in providing practical solutions that truly work. Today, GO MOM!® Inc. is a resource that works together with both brands and moms to achieve results and simplify busy family life. Some highlights include:
2000 – 2008: License partnership with Mead Westvaco
2004 – 2008: GO MOM!® Planner product placement nationwide including Target, Walmart, Borders and more.
2009 – Present: nationally-recognized video blogger, writer, home organization expert, brand partner, media personality, spokesperson, destination marketer, and event planner.
You do a lot of video. Tell us what you love about it, what programs you use, camera etc.
Video is my medium and I love to film first and write second. Thanks to an upbringing that included performing constantly on stage through middle and high school, I’ve always been comfortable in front of the camera. I don’t think much about it, imagine the camera is no different than someone sitting next to me, talk in sound bites, and just let it roll. Right now I’m using a Kodak Zi8 and produce video on my Mac in IMovie. I have my eye on some new technology to invest in soon.
Any big plans for Go Mom Inc in 2012?
We continue to make improvements to our DIY GO MOM! Planner and Household Notebook, currently available in a downloadable PDF format and new features coming for Back to School 2012. We are in the process of working on an eBook, introducing online classes, and virtual organizing consults delivered in live video format. My work with key brands continues to be a great source of excitement.
What conferences are you attending this year?
I am honored to be speaking in late March at She Streams on two panels, one highlighting Video Blogging with AT&T, return in April to my 3rd Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, teach Video Blogging 101 in June at The Reviewers Retreat, attend TypeAParent at the end of June, and of course attend BlogHer in August.
If you could give moms one piece of advice with regards to time management, what would it be?
Time management is as simple as Schedule. Organize. Grow. Map your time, Organized your world, Grow your joy. You simply can’t live your life generally well organized and exceptionally well loved unless you have a handle on your time so begin with your planner, paper or digital, as your road map and it all follows you from there.
