Back to School tips for the first week of school

Back to school time can be a little bit overwhelming, and a little bit crazy. When it comes to preparing for the first week of school, getting your kids ready can be nerve-wracking. They may be starting school for the first time, or just not sure they want summer to end! Here are 10 back… [Read More]

What My Child is Reading, Vol. 2

This post contains affiliate links. As most of you know, Mr. A is an AVID reader and rarely without a book. I get asked at least once a week for book recommendations for boys and girls in his age-range. So I figured it was time to do another update in hopes of helping other parents find… [Read More]

One super easy way to give back to your school

I can’t deny it any longer. I have a first and a third grader. Meet the Teacher is Friday. School starts Monday. We’ve spent the last few days making sure we have all the correct school supplies, packing up book bags and making a list of our favorite lunch snacks. We’ve reviewed our morning routine:… [Read More]

Preschool Prep: 10 Ways in 10 Days

There are so many back to school posts out there, but most are geared towards the big kids. Now it’s time for the preschoolers to shine. With both my experience as a preschool mom and a preschool teacher, I’ve compiled a list of things to help your family with preschool prep. If you start about… [Read More]

What my child is reading, Vol 1

We have trip to Universal Studios coming up in August, and that means HARRY POTTER WORLD. Mr. A has read books 1-4, so he’s totally pumped for the trip, but Miss E doesn’t know a thing about it. So we decided to read the first book out loud as a family and it’s been awesome…. [Read More]

Keep track of summer reading with these printables

Last summer, I challenged my rising second-grader to read 50 books. If he did it, I’d take him to Target and he could buy something special as a reward. I knew it might be tough, but he LOVES reading and I figured it would be a good way to distract him from the tablet or TV… [Read More]

The one author your young children NEED to be reading

Mo Willems, in my opinion, should be the newest member of the legendary children’s authors hall of fame. I was first introduced to his books as a kindergarten teacher about 10 years ago and I have continued to follow his hilarious and lovable characters through their ups and downs ever since. What makes Mo Willems’… [Read More]

Books for Boys: Recommendations for ages 7-10

Mr. A is a reader, much like his mama was/is. The only problem with that is I’m constantly scrambling for appropriate reading material – for both his age and his interests. Thank goodness for Facebook and other blogs to tell me what other kids his age (and older) are reading. Right now he’s eight and… [Read More]

5 Under $5: Back to School Gifts for Teachers

We don’t always think about gifts for teachers at the beginning of the year, but it can help your kids start the year off on a good foot. I know that as a parent getting back into the swing of things can be a little rough. We get used to the more laid back pace… [Read More]

For the last few days, the forecast has shown 30% chance of snow but then it would quickly disappear. Em was devastated as she really wanted to see some snow this vacation.
Mother Nature must have heard her because we woke up to this!

Every stage of parenting is hard. Every stage brings new challenges...and new joys. ❤️
This kid, my first baby, is growing up. He’ll be taller than me in no time and next year, we are off to middle school. I know a shift in the tide is coming. So for now, I’m going to cherish the moments when he reaches out for me and we walk hand in hand. I hope he knows I’m here for him, no matter what and that I’ll do my best to guide him through what’s to come.

Well they both loved it and had a blast. I think the boy is ready for sleep away camp!
