I am not a runner.
Pretty much someone big and scary needs to be chasing me for me to run. I’ll do it if I have to. Or if a friend says “hey, this is going to be really cool, you need to do it.” But really I don’t run.
Almost 11 years ago (OMG really?) I walked a marathon. Yes, walked. I may have run three miles but I walked the rest. Was I crazy? Maybe. But my best friend’s niece was battling cancer and it seemed like the least I could do was raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her honor. So I raised a little over $2,500 and completed a marathon.
It was then that I decided, no, I am not a runner.
But then we had the opportunity to do a two mile fun run at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference this past weekend. How could I say no?
So I got up at 5:15 a.m. (#reallyfreaking early with my friend Nadia from Childmode) and was raring to go. Can’t you tell?
It was amazing. We ran through Disney Land, through the castle and ended in Cars Land in California Adventure Park. It felt fabulous and I am SO incredibly glad that I did it.

Maybe the key here is that I’m not a long distance runner. A mile here or there? Sure, bring it on. A half or full marathon? Um, no.
So I’m adding an official RunDisney event to my life list. I’m not sure which one yet or when I’ll do it, but any of the 5Ks will do. Plus, my little man LOVES to run so I’d be tickled pink to see him run in one of the kid races.
RunDisney offers eight events:
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend
Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend presented by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Expedition Everest Challenge
Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend
Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon (new this year!)
How about I aim for the Wine and Dine Event in 2015?
Disclosure: I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Conference and received discounted rates and tickets to various events and attractions. The DSMM sponsors provided product and helped make the magic happen. My family had a fabulous time and all opinions come from our experience.

I think I want to run for the bling at the end! I’m TOTALLY signing up for a RunDisney race soon! See you there!!!
I’ve always said running isn’t my thing. But if I got to meet McQueen at the end? I might run. 🙂
