Parenting isn’t for the faint of heart. It pulls on your heartstrings, yanks on them and sometimes rips them out completely. Parenting can be downright painful as your children start to navigate the rough waters of life, learning lessons that you know they have to, but wish they could avoid.
I want a lot of things for my children – a life of love, success, good experiences are all included. But most of all, I want the to be good people. I want them to respect their fellow humans and offer a smile when it’s needed.
I want them to be kind.
Now I’m not naive. Life can be brutal. They will also need to have a strong sense of self and a back bone to navigate all that life throws at them. But kindness can still be at the forefront.
The good news is I’m not alone. In a world full of public opinions and constant disagreements, many of us are simply wishing for manners to win out. We want kindness to come out victorious.
To that end, I am loving all the products that are giving kindness a voice. Adults and children alike can showcase their dedication to kindness and wear it loud and proud.
This month, KEEP Collective is focusing on their partnership with the Kind Campaign, an internationally recognized non-profit organization that brings awareness and healing to the negative and lasting effects of girl-against-girl bullying through their global movement, documentary film, in-school assemblies, and educational curriculum.
100% of the net proceeds from the two items will go directly back to the KIND Campaign. It’s the perfect piece of jewelry for teen girls (and their moms too!). What a great gift!
I’m also a huge fan of the current graphic tee trend. I have several shirts with clever and witty sayings, but the ones encouraging positivity are my favorite. Whether it’s from Zulily, , Zazzle, Cafe Press, Etsy or even the GAP – you can find a super comfortable, cute t-shirt with a positive message in roughly five minutes. And there’s sure to be a coffee mug or canvas print to match! Here are a few of my favorites. (I think I need the Kind Is the New Cool shirt from The Rosie Project for my kids.)
I know life can’t be sunshine and rainbows all the time. But when we choose to focus on kindness and other positive mantras, it sure makes it more likely.
Cute ideas! I just ordered a bracelet that says “Be the Change” and I can’t wait to wear it.
I will never forget the time in preschool with my oldest . . .the teacher told me he was having difficulty cutting with scissors – he was/is a lefty. She then went on to tell me how he always invited the differently-abled kids to play whatever he was playing. . .who cares about scissors?? Kindness really DOES matter!!
I love the graphic tees!
