Plan a night out at Bonefish Grill – new menu additions and decor

August 15, 2015 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago, I was invited to check out the newly renovated Bonefish Grill at North Hills. We don’t get there often, but I love Bonefish, so I was eager to see the new decor and try the new menu items.

I grabbed my mom and the kids and we were ready to chow down.

When we arrived we were greeted with the beautiful new wall and wine display. I hadn’t noticed any major construction over the summer, but that’s because they never closed. The bar area was completely redone with the addition of high top tables and the dining area has all new tables and chairs.

They brought bread out to the table with homemade pesto. We also ordered my favorite appetizer, the Bang Bang Shrimp! Mom ordered the blackberry sangria, which was on the “Specials” menu and I got their regular white sangria. YUM!

They really impressed me by bringing out the kid meals first. We all know how impatient kids can be when they are hungry and I didn’t want them filling up on bread. Miss E. got the macaroni and cheese. It’s her favorite food so I wasn’t surprised. I then talked Mr A into getting their popcorn shrimp instead of a grilled cheese. I knew he’d love it and he did!

I ordered the Pecan encrusted trout and Mom got the Tilapia Imperial (stuffed with crab meat and other goodness!). Both our meals came with the seasonal veggie – zucchini with Parmesan cheese. I am not a huge zucchini fan but it was AMAZING. It was julienned with just the right amount of cheese and salt/pepper. Every bite had the perfect amount of crunch.

Mom really enjoyed her meal, while mine was just okay. There were only three artichokes on the fish and those bites were delicious. But the rest of the fish lacked flavor, even with the additional lemon butter I requested. Next time I’ll order something else.

Then came dessert. We ordered the Summer Berry Shortcake (on the Specials menu ) and the new doughnuts (tossed in cinnamon sugar and served with sea salt caramel and chocolate sauce). Miss E really enjoyed decorating everyone’s doughnuts with the sauce.

Holy cow, you guys! They were both ridiculously delicious. We were completely full by the time we left and I’m surprised I didn’t have to be wheeled out.

Next time, I think I’ll bring the husband and have a drink on their new patio area. Raleigh doesn’t have a ton of outdoor options, so I’m glad Bonefish thought to include it in their renovation plans.

Bonefish comped our meal (minus alcohol) for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own and no other compensation was received.
