Summer Streaming with Netflix: Historical Dramas and Puppies, Oh My!

June 24, 2015 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

Do you ever feel like nowadays we just have TOO many choices when it comes to TV? I had an evening a few days ago where I swear I flipped through 100+ options and still couldn’t find what I wanted to watch.

I think even the kids have been feeling it. My daughter has been on a Tinkerbell kick for the last month and we’ve watched every one that Netflix offers multiple times. (BTW, that includes The Great Fairy Rescue, the new Legend of the Neverbeast AND The Pirate Fairy.) But now when I ask what she wants to watch for quiet time, she says “I don’t know” and tells me to go to the Search bar.

So what to watch? That night I had a fling with the remote, I finally settled on the Showtime series, The Borgias. It’s a history drama set in 1492 Italy and only has three seasons so surely I can get through it this summer. I’m barely into it but it’s really intriguing. (AND the fourth season of Scandal was just released so that is up next on my list!)

As for the kids, they have just become obsessed with the Buddies movies. These direct to DVD movies were from the Air Bud Disney series and while they aren’t amazing by any stretch, the kids LOVE them. Right now, Netflix has all of them available to stream. So over the last two weeks, we’ve seen Air Buddies, Snow Buddies, Treasure Buddies, Space Buddies and Em even made me watch Santa Buddies with her.

Have you found something new and fun in the depths of Netflix lately? Let me know what you’re watching in the comments. (Oh and big news, you can now stream Forrest Gump! Perfect for your July 4th weekend!)

As a huge fan and customer of Netflix, I am proud to be a member of the Netflix Stream Team. I received a Netflix subscription and a streaming device in return for posting Netflix updates and reviews. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
