SNOWED IN – reporting live from the trenches

February 26, 2015 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

Today is Day 3 of Raleigh’s Snowmeggedon. We started off on a much better foot than yesterday.

Yesterday we had lots of whining and screaming before it was even 9 a.m. Yesterday I understood why some animals eat their young. Today the kids are just enthralled with the 5 inches of snow we have. We are lucky enough to have power, although it flickered for a bit which had me in a panic. What did I do during that time period? Brewed another cup of coffee. Priorities people.

So far we’ve played in the snow, played two games of Memory and three games of Sneaky Snacky Squirrel. (I won all three much to the kid’s dismay.) I got out the colored pencils and passed out coloring sheets.

“Now what can I do Mom?”

And there it is. It’s starting. And it’s only 11. I’ve got a whole day coming of this.

Mr. A is desperate to go back outside. I am praying my neighbors send their kids out soon, so I can just open the door and say “have fun” without having to get all layered up. I am not a big fan of snow unless I’m sitting by the fire (with coffee of course) watching it fall. Then I don’t mind it.

This afternoon might have to be a “YES” afternoon. My friend Amy might be on to something. “Can I watch a movie?” YES. “Can I jump on the bed?” YES. “Can I have another cookie?” YES.

I’m not going to get much done today. And that’s okay.

Stay safe and warm NC friends. We’ll see you when it thaws.
