2015 Toyota Camry Goes Bold

November 30, 2014 By Erin L. 1 Comment

Let’s start out with some important information. I’m not a car girl. I don’t know the fancy terminology and I can’t tell you what a catalytic converter does. But I like to get behind the wheel and go.

That’s a good thing since these days I spend a good chunk of my time in the car, carting my kids from school to activity and back again.

When I was approached to test drive the new 2015 Toyota Camry on our recent trip to the mountains, I thought “well this will be fun” but I was also a little bit “Um, a Camry?” Hey, I’m being honest. We could have rocked the new Sienna for a week with the kids, but the Camry has never struck me as a fun car.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Y’all, this car ZOOMS. We took the XLE all around the Blue Ridge parkway, on the highway and through neighborhoods. I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed driving it.

The XLE was totally souped up with a Blindspot Monitor (totally handy on the highway), Wireless Charging for your mobile phone, and a nifty feature that alerts you when you are tailgating. The coolest feature (in my husband and my opinion) was with the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. If someone pulled in front of us while on cruise, the car SLOWS DOWN ON IT’S OWN. So cool. Then when the car in front of you moves, the Camry resumes the set speed.

The interior was really nice and quite comfortable. There was plenty of leg room, both in front and back. We also had a great dashboard display for music, navigation and weather, which allowed us to access apps like Pandora and Yelp! The adjustable heated seats were quite helpful since it was snowing our first morning in Blowing Rock.

And it wasn’t just me; the hubby enjoyed it as much as I did. He gives the Camry two thumbs up. One for the smooth quiet ride and the other for the sporty feel and redesigned look.  He loved using the paddle shifters to feel the power of the V6. He also liked the fact that when the cruise was set the dash displayed the posted speed limit, which is great when you haven’t seen a sign in awhile. This car has gadgets galore but you don’t have to be a techie to figure it out.

If we had not been in need of a bigger car (we ended up with an SUV with three rows), I would consider purchasing this car in a heart beat. Who knew? I guess we learn something new every day.

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (“Toyota”) provided me with use of a 2015 Camry for a short period of time and a gift card used toward the #CamryBold experience I participated in. I received no other compensation from Toyota. The opinions I have shared about this vehicle are my own.

I think I’ll be trading in my SUV this week and going #camrybold! The rebate would be an added bonus.
