Oh kindergarten, you are a funny bird.
You’ve turned my sweet first born baby into a boy – a full fledged boy now, complete with opinions and ideas on how the world works.
In the last three weeks, I’ve seen his intelligence grow three-fold. He’s talking about math and science as if he’s going to solve all of life’s problems. The other morning, in the car, he and his best friend were talking about the sun’s rotation and whether or not you’d burn up if you landed on a star.
I was fascinated. They totally forgot I was there and were lost in their own conversation.
Yesterday they talked about old age and dying. Could you live to be 120? What about 200? Then one of them suggested they’d live to be some crazy number like 234 thousand million and then they both cracked up. A few minutes later I heard the word “butt” and peels of laughter.
Ahhh to be five and a half.
Last night, A read his first book out loud to me. My heart just about burst with pride. Hearing him sound out the letters and stumble, try again and get it right was simply amazing.
So much has happened and we’ve only been in school three weeks.
What craziness will the end of the year bring?
