Last night, I had the privilege of attending opening night of Quidam at the PNC Arena with my mom, sister and husband. To say it was phenomenal is sort of an understatement.
For just over 90 minutes, all I heard from our row was an assortment of Oooh’s, Ahhhhh’s, WHAT?, Shut Up!, No way, Oh my god!, Holy Shit, and Incredible!
I honestly didn’t know what to expect. It’s been several years since I saw my one and only Cirque show in Vegas, and KA is a totally different story than Quidam. Quidam is set to an imaginary world created by a little girl. I didn’t realize that at first and will admit to being VERY confused in the beginning.
But once you get into it, it doesn’t really matter what the story arc is. You are drawn into the music and the performance and are lost in the beauty and wonderment until the very last bit of applause is heard from the audience.
Your jaw may become permanently welded to the floor as you watch things that just don’t seem humanly possible. The strength that is required of these performers is utterly mind boggling. I can’t even do a cartwheel and these people are twisting, turning, balancing in ways that seem unreal.
It’s hard to pick a favorite performance from the evening out the aerialists, German Wheel (my husband wants one of these at our house), the hand balancer, the Spanish webs and the Diabolo. But if forced to make a choice, the Statues had my eyes wide open the entire time. The human body is truly incredibly and if used in the right way, can only be described as art.
My mother went in with high expectations as she’s seen O in Vegas and has raved about it. She had this to say about Quidam, “The performances were breathtaking… a true testament to the beauty, strength and capabilities of the human body. Also loved the musical accompaniment. Now it’s my mission to see every show Cirque du Soliel has ever done!”
The show runs through the 14th. Run, don’t walk, to buy tickets while you still have the chance.
(And fair warning, parking prices at PNC have gone up to $15! OUCH!)
I was provided with free tickets in exchange for promotion. All opinions are my own!

My favorite part was the Statues too, crazy. I saw you guys from a distance but didn’t get to say hi.
