The other night I was having a moment where I just wanted to drown my sorrows in half a pan of brownies. Alas, I didn’t have any brownies BUT I did have a jar of Grandma Hoerner’s Apple Pie Filling. I knew there had to be something I could do with that.
I’m not a whiz in the kitchen so I didn’t dare try to make something up. Luckily, I stumbled upon a recipe in a cookbook that I was given as a wedding present. “Too Easy Cobbler” was in the dessert section,. Even with my cooking ineptitude, I was sure I couldn’t screw this up.
Y’all, it was SO easy. One stick of butter (melted in the bottom of the pan), one cup self-rising flour, one cup milk and one cup sugar – that’s all the extras you need. Then pour your apple (or peach!) pie filling on top and bake at 350 for about 40 minutes. You want it to be brown on top.
Add ice cream and VOILA! I could have eaten the entire pan…but I didn’t.

I’ve seen Grandma Hoerner’s in my local Whole Foods, which is good and bad. I ate this pan BY MYSELF in three days, since my husband doesn’t eat anything that resembles pie. Now I have to drown my stresses at the gym.
Thank you to Grandma Hoerners for sending me a sample of the Apple Pie Filling. No compensation was received for this post. All opinions are my own.

My mom made cobbler often as I was growing up, and with many different fruits. It’s one of the few desserts I enjoy that doesn’t have any chocolate. 🙂
Erin, that looks great! The best cobblers are just gooey and best HOT from the oven. This reminds me of the cobblers my grandma used to make!
I don’t see why not. It’ll just make the breading thicker and might need to cook a little longer to bake all the way through.
