Who needs a point and shoot camera anyway?

September 29, 2012 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

It’s amazing to me sometimes how much times have changed. When I was in college, I only had a cell phone with 45 minutes a month on it for emergencies. If I went somewhere, I had to take my point and click camera, which had – GASP – film!

Now everyone has cell phones and almost all of them come with cameras. If you’ve got a smart phone, it’s just like having a point and shoot with you at all times. With my first camera phone, the pics were pretty horrible. It was nice to capture those random moments, but you definitely weren’t going to print them out. At that time, I had an old Canon PowerShot (with only a measly 4 megapixels.)

Now it’s amazing what you can do with camera phones. Not only do phones like the Samsung Galaxy S3 feature an 8 megapixel camera and take print-worthy photos, but with all the apps you can choose from, you can edit them right there on your phone.

Check out all these apps in the Google Play store.

(I will admit that for major events, we take our DSLR, but it’s so awesome that for most every day things your phone works just fine.)

Do you are carry a camera other than a phone?

I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program and have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.
