Feature Friday: Adventuroo and MomComm

February 24, 2012 By Erin L. 2 Comments

Today I am pleased to introduce ya’ll to my friend, Melissa, the brilliant mind behind two fabulous blogs – Adventuroo and Momcomm.  She has amazing marketing smarts and is the mama to two totally adorable boys (who happen to have been born on the same day three years apart!)

So you are the brains behind MomComm.  Tell us what inspired you to get started with that.

It was actually SITS Girls and Problogger! About six months after I started my personal blog Adventuroo, I heard about SITS Girls running the Problogger 31 Days to Become a Better Blogger challenge. I joined in and it gave me the itch to start Momcomm Mondays, where I applied my marketing experience and provided bloggers with blogging tips. It quickly grew to my most popular day of the week but since it never quite fit well with Adventuroo, I decided to make an entire site from it.

Big plans for 2012?

Absolutely! I recently announced a new online course about planning and creating content. The cool thing about the course if you don’t have to be online at a certain time. I don’t think anything is being done in the space like this so I’m super excited. On Monday, I’ll be announcing the class name, a full description, when it starts and sign-up days and times. And newsletter subscribers will get a discount because they’re pretty awesome peeps.

Are you still blogging over at Adventuroo?

Yes, but I’ve cut back for a while and blog about once a week. Between creating this Momcomm course and my regular marketing consulting work, I’m just another working mom trying to help support her family. I love Adventuroo though so it’s here to stay.

What are your favorite topics to blog about?

On Adventuroo, I love writing about the everyday moments in life. Sure the big moments are great too. But I want to remember things like Big Roo throwing a birthday party for his pink bear.

I also love writing just about anything blogging related. Of course.

What inspires you to write (besides your super cute little boys)?

Sometimes a simple word inspires me. Sometimes a moment in life. And sometimes, I just have to rant and get something off my chest. I’ve been a writer since grade school so that desire isn’t going anywhere. I know that for sure.
