Tonight was one of THOSE nights…at least it started out that way. I picked up the Bug from school. He was crying because he wanted more animal crackers. We got home. He didn’t want to be put down. He’s almost 24 lbs; not a light thing for me and my non-gym going self to be lugging around. We’d have 3 minutes of laughing and smiling and 5 minutes of whining and crying. Totally awesome.
We had peas and apple sauce. We were happy. We were screaming to get down. Happy. Ooops, just kidding, unhappy again.
We had a bath. Whined and cried through that (with a few intermittent big tooth grins!) Then we had 10 minutes of pure happiness. Ok, we’re ending on a good note. Time to head up for books and night time. The Bug headed to the stairs and was all ready to pick out his books. Stop the presses! We did not read Moo, Baa, La, La, La. Instead we read Are You My Mother…twice.
Then it happened. He teetered over to another book and started flipping pages. I started singing. No real lullabye, just a soft melody. He looked up at me and CRAWLED OVER AND LAID HIS HEAD IN MY LAP. All the while, I was singing. His sweet little face just lay there and rubbed his eyes, occasionally closing them while I ran my fingers through his hair. It was utter perfection. My eyes closed – “CLICK!” Forever saved.

What a wonderful picture!
Beautiful story! The title of the blog is so appropriate, too. The snapshot is what you will remember; not all the fussing and whining that led up to it (thank goodness!)
