Not a crafty mama

April 6, 2010 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

I love the idea of crafts.  I really do.  Spending time with my bug, making a mess or something beautiful out of paint, glue, stickers, whatever.  But I pretty much just all around suck at it.

I have the best of intentions when it comes to crafting – but NEVER follow through.  Case in point, a few weeks ago I was contacted by a rep from Musselman’s applesauce.  I don’t typically do product reviews but this was a little different.  They were going to send me two jars of applesauce and a “recipe” to make bunny place settings for our Easter table.  AWESOME!

Now this family loves some applesauce so there was no way I was going to turn that down —and a fun craft to boot — this was going to be great.

Early last week, I got my package, oohed and aahed over the idea, the cute bunny cookie cutter and the general concept.  The Bug and I were all ready to make place settings on Friday. I even thought about inviting over my neighbor and her son.

But alas….I didn’t.  I didn’t on ALL fronts.  No crafts.  No neighbor.  No cute bunny place settings made from applesauce and flour.  Big fat mommy fail. And I felt even worse when I saw all the cute bunny’s on Musselman’s Facebook page.  Seriously, how cute are those?  (Mine would NOT have looked like that.)

I don’t know why I bother.  Maybe when the bug is older and I feel like he really cares about the crafts?  Oh really, who am I kidding?

PS. A huge thanks to Musselman’s because it truly was a super cute idea and the applesauce was extremely yummy.  My heart was in the right place when I accepted the offer.

I totally hear you. I want to be crafty. I'm super crafty in my head. In reality though, not so much. People say DIY is so much cheaper, but not for me. I buy the stuff for DIY things, then screw it up and have to go buy it anyway.

I understand completely! Oh i see these moms who do these super wonderful crafts and i get the idea into my head to try it out — by the time i get all the kids set up and give it a try its always an epic failure 🙂 just dont have the 'crafty gene' in me i guess
