One last summer fling

August 18, 2016 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

It’s been a crazy few weeks. I know I haven’t been around much, but if I’m being honest, I’ve been barely holding my head above water, so neglecting this blog was the easiest thing to do.

We have several house projects going on, which is both exciting and incredibly stressful. Right now it’s complete and utter chaos, but when it’s done, I’m going to be so, so happy.

Then the big thing – we moved my grandmother from her retirement community outside DC to one here in Raleigh. At least that was the plan. She had a fall the second day she was in Raleigh BEFORE she ever moved in. After a few hours in the emergency room (nothing broken – phew!) we were fortunate to get her into the health center where she’s moving. But now she’s been here over two weeks and still hasn’t seen her apartment. We are hoping she’ll be able to move in soon.

So here we are, one and a half weeks before school starts AND one a half weeks before I start a new contract gig. Jason has a work trip and we all decided to tag along.

Tonight the kids and I went for a walk on the beach. Well it was supposed to be a walk on the beach. They wanted to play in the waves and I told them it was fine to get the bottom of their clothes wet. Fast forward five minutes and they decided to get in…clothes and all! It was amazing I have seriously never seen them so happy. They jumped and played in the waves for what seemed like forever, screaming and laughing together. It was only when Miss E got knocked over by a wave that I ever saw a flicker of unhappiness.

But even that didn’t last long. When we finally decided to call it a night and go in, they both begged to jump into the pool with their clothes on too. Hilarity ensued as we tried to figure out how to get up to our room (we didn’t have any towels with us!) without soaking everything.

This trip is exactly what we needed. Fun and family time. I hope y’all get some too before the summer creeps into fall.
