Small Business Spotlight: Kokoon

March 24, 2016 By Erin L. 3 Comments

*I’m excited to introduce Ann O’Neal, a sales rep for Kokoon Clothing. This brand is new to me but I’m a big fan already!*

About eight years ago I was a stay at home mom that wanted a “job” that would be flexible, social, and profitable. I was introduced to Kokoon Clothing and immediately decided I wanted to become a sales rep for them. Since then I have grown to love this small family-owned company.

I don’t have a background in fashion but I like to look cute when I go out as long as I’m comfortable. Some of the things I LOVE about Kokoon are that they are PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA, they are easy to care for, great for travel, come in wonderful prints as well as solids, a variety of style choices for most occasions (casual, work & party), and appeals to a wide range of ages (I’ve sold to ages 13 through 90!). Basically the clothes are flattering, smart, fun, current styles for all of our different personalities, shapes & ages! I tell people that they are boutiquey clothes without the boutiquey prices which is important to me! I’m so lucky to have found a job where I can be proud of the product that I sell as well as help other women look and feel confident.

I have consistently been one of the top ten stylists since I started. I work anywhere from 10-40 hours a week eight months of the year taking off July & August, as well as Dec. & Jan. The clothes sell themselves once you get people to try them on. Our Hostess Benefits are excellent (hostesses get 10% of show total sales in FREE clothes plus a 30% discount on top of that for up to six months OR we can make it a fundraiser and we will donate 10% of the sales to your favorite charity:) and our trunk shows are just like our clothes ~ comfortable and relaxed. Every time I go to work I get to meet some really awesome women that I otherwise probably wouldn’t know.

I really look forward to visiting Kokoon’s headquarters in Minneapolis to preview the Fall collection each July and attending our annual sales meeting in Jan (somewhere warm!). I love getting to know my fellow stylists but most importantly being with the Kokoon owner/designer Laine Weinberg. Time with her is invaluable! She is smart, creative, fun, helpful and my friend! Not many sales reps can say that about their company. I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky to have been introduced to Kokoon eight years ago!

There are a limited number of new stylist positions available each season, and I appreciate representing a company that doesn’t have a sales person on every corner. Stylists set up in-home trunk shows, help clients shop one-on-one during private appointments, and also earn commission for online purchases. A Kokoon stylist has the opportunity to create her own success on her own terms (earn just enough to pay for your own clothes OR build a fashion business). You can work alone or build a team though we are NOT a multi level marketing business. You are NEVER pressured to hire and manage other stylists. I would highly recommend looking into Kokoon if you’re someone who enjoys people and fashion and are looking for a flexible and fun opportunity!

Great to see Ann featured in a local blog! She’s fantastic to work with, and she truly does care about helping people find comfortable, classic styles (in a very non-pushy way). I met her through a local business group, NAWBO, and am so grateful to know her warm personality. Thanks for featuring her, Erin!

So glad to see Ann O’Neal , a fellow NAWBO member, and her company, Kakoon, in the spotlight in this article. Great person, great clothes!
