“Mom, when can we go back to Carowinds?”
My son has asked me this pretty much every week since we went in July. We haven’t been able to go as much as we’d like, but he’s in luck because in two weeks, we’re headed for a quick trip to Charlotte to check out the Great Pumpkin Fest, a family friendly fall festival at Carowinds. Not only will my kids be able to ride their favorite rides, but they’ll be able to take part in lots of fun Halloween activities.
We usually hit up a few local pumpkin patches for fun and games, so I’m looking forward to seeing what Carowinds has to offer. New to the festival this year are Last Laff, a kid-friendly maze and the Sleeping Giant, who stands at 12 feet tall! (I’m going to guess my daughter will skip this one.)
No worries though. She’ll be stoked to know there is a Petting Zoo as she’s been begging to pet a bunny for weeks now. I have no idea where that came from, but at least I can let her know her chance is coming. There will be a whole barnyard of animals for her to choose from.
This summer we didn’t get the chance to check out any of the live shows, , so I’m excited to check out the Peanuts Spootakular, featuring Charlie Brown, Linus and Lucy in a mysterious but spooky musical adventure that is more fun than fright. I also want the kids to see the Monster Bash, a musical revue filled with popular Hallaween songs.
It’s going to be a packed day. I hope we can fit it all in, in between riding the Woodstock Express 100 times. (The hubby and I are also going to try and sneak in a few adult rides too!) Oh and I almost forgot. There is Trick or Treating from 3-5. Kids can trick or treat from various stations in Planet Snoopy. There’s also a costume parade if your kids want to dress up.
Before we leave, we’ll be hitting up the Mumpkin (mini-pumpkin) Patch so we can grab a pumpkin to take home! Lord knows my kids won’t let me forget this. Every year we get FOUR, one for each member of the family.
It’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m hoping for a nice fall day, with temperatures in the high 60s/low 70s, as on our last visit it was 100 degrees!
Tickets are $49.99 for adults and $41.99 for kids/seniors. (You can save $15 if you buy four or more online!) Park is open from 10am – 5:30pm with Halloween activities from 11-5.
Feeling lucky? I’m giving away a Family Four Pack of tickets to the Great Pumpkin Fest. (Tickets do not include SCarowinds.)
The fall festival at Carowinds will run until November 1st. Follow A Parenting Production on Facebook and Twitter for more Carolina trip tips and guides.
