I can’t celebrate Halloween without Hersheys {sponsored}

October 27, 2013 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

Oh Halloween! The holiday that starts the season of gaining weight at my house. Sure, I could do the candy in moderation or refuse to buy it until the day before, but then all the good stuff is gone. What kid really wants Raisinets?

Having candy in the house has been both a curse and a blessing.  Every day, Mr A asks if he can have a treat from the black candy bowl. If I sneak something, both kids almost always catch me.  My daughter has taken to saying “Say ahhh mommy, what’s in there?”  I’m going to have to do a better job when I sneak my chocolate.

Candy is a perfect addition to any fall treat. After receiving an awesome sampling of Hershey’s treats for the holiday, I’ve been brainstorming ways to incorporate into some extra fun for the kids.

Last week, we spent a fun morning with friends making cupcakes and Reese’s Pieces were the piece de resistance that we added to our icing. I’m pretty sure the kids ate more out of the bag than they put on the cupcakes, but that’s half the fun of making goodies, right?

I even made some special ones for the adults with Rolos in the middle. (Note, the Rolos all melted to the bottom of the cupcake and formed an amazing caramel glaze. YUM!  Just add one Rolo to each cupcake after you pour the batter in.)

We even made special dessert pancakes one evening and put Reese’s Pieces in them.  Hello, delicious.  We’ve done chocolate chips before but this might be my new favorite.

 My son has decided that Kit Kat’s are his new favorite candy.  I think these could have been cute in our cupcakes as arms or legs, but alas, I forgot. Next time, for sure.

What’s your favorite Halloween candy?

    I love the candy pancakes! We usually have a healthy diet but I love treats especially in the morning with coffee. This would be a fun Halloween Family tradition.
