Teething Woes and a Little Bit of Relief {giveaway}

May 11, 2012 By Erin L.

Oy, teething.  A parent’s dreadful opponent for so many months.

It sneaks up on you.  Causes you to say “OH!  That’s why my child has been a heinous beast for the last three days.  That’s why she woke up crying last night (and the night before and the night before that)”

No one likes it.  Because, well, it sucks.  Necessary.  Well, yes, we all need teeth.  But totally sucks.

And since no one wants to dope their kid up on Tylenol for weeks on end, it is a joy and wonder that there are now natural alternatives that help calm and placate your hurting baby.

Enter Orajel Natural Teething Tablets.  Belladonna free, these tablets contain chamomile and work some sort of voodoo magic on teething.

According to their website, the active ingredient, eugenol, has been used for generations (and still used today) to treat oral pain. The oil is extracted from the bud, leaf, and stem of the plant and possesses antiseptic, analgesic, antibacterial and local anesthetic properties. I won’t lie.  I don’t really get it, but I’m not going to complain.  My daughter calms down after having a few of these.  And if we get relief, I’m not questioning it.

Want it?  Need it?  You are in luck.

BabyCenter and Orajel have provided me with a baby survival kit if you will.  To enter, simply tell me your preferred teething remedy in the comments.  Winner will be drawn via “And the Winner Is” on Wednesday, May 16.

    Ella doesn’t seem to care too much for teething toys, but she loves to chew on a mini bagel. 🙂
