Week 13: What does time even mean anymore?

June 16, 2020 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

I haven’t written anything in a few weeks. I mean, what’s there to say? It’s all one gigantic groundhog day with some world-ending kind of bullshit popping up now and again.

Let’s see, what’s happened in the last month….

  • North Carolina re-opened to Phase 2 and our Covid cases are now spiking. People are losing their minds over masks – wear them, don’t wear them. It’s a ruckus. I get that people want to get back to their lives, but the pandemic isn’t over. Ignoring it isn’t helping anything.
  • Black Lives Matter. It’s been horrific to watch, yet there has been a glimmer of hope for humanity as it appears that people are actually trying this time. Granted, maybe it’s just in my bubble, but I am impressed by the amount of people willing to get uncomfortable and do the work. I’m one who avoids discomfort at all costs, but I’m diving in. I’ve got books, articles, movies and am appalled at how white-washed my history has been.
  • School’s out for summer. Yup, we’ve been home for a full summer already, what’s ten more weeks? (Please Baby Jesus, let them go back to school.) But the biggest thing is MY BABY IS DONE WITH ELEMENTARY!!

We are retreating to the mountains this weekend for a little escape. I need to get away from the walls of my house. Being at home with all of my humans (whom I, of course, love dearly) is taking it’s toll on me. We’re all up on each other and I need a break. If we have to all be together, let’s get out in nature in the middle of nowhere.

I’m spent, y’all. And I know everyone else is too.
