When I heard I was having a girl (a whopping five and a half years ago), I was elated. I pictured bows, frilly dresses, manicure parties and so much more. What I failed to think about was the 30 minute scream fest we would have every morning over her hair.
Doing hair is not my thing. I can barely manage my own hair; I’m not sure why I thought having another female in the house would somehow change that. I can sometimes manage to throw it up in a little pony tail, but it’s always messy. Always. But that’s still “in”, right?
So when I realized Miss E’s dance recital is just one month away? Cue utter panic.
Seriously people? You want ME to finagle her hair into a neat, perfect little “do” so she can be the sassy little dancing diva that she is? Can’t I just pay someone else to do it for me?
Ok, no, I’m not paying someone to do it. (But if she keeps this up, don’t think I won’t consider it.) But the key here is SOMEONE else. First off, I asked my other dance mom friend if she’d help on picture day as I was going to be out of town. Then I lucked out as my sister agreed to babysit last minute so she took over hair duty.
I think she did a pretty good job.
The trick (or so I hear) is gel. Lots and lots of gel. Lucky for my sister, I had a nice stash of SoCozy Styling Gel on hand. And now that she’s done it, I have some semblance of faith that I can muster up a decent hair do on Gala Day. (And if it’s absolutely horrible, I assume someone at the dance studio would ensure she doesn’t go on stage looking like a total weirdo.) I’m not going to lie; I’m still nervous. But at least I’m nervous and armed with hair product.
We love SoCozy because their products are non-toxic and made without parabens, formaldehyde, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, propylene glycol. They are also free of alcohol, gluten, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts. We can’t wait to try out the new line, called Boing, made specifically for curly hair. I’m curious how it will compare to the Cinch line that we currently use.
Wondering where to find it? Lucky for many of us, SoCozy just launched in CVS stores across the country. To find a store near you, visit their store locator.
