A letter to my daughter on her third birthday

March 24, 2014 By Erin L. 3 Comments

Oh my sweet peanut,

I look at you and my heart swells. I can’t believe you are three! This age is such FUN. You dance, twirl, sing, sass, jump, run and yell. Your vocabulary grows by leaps and bounds every single day.

Admittedly, I’m a little sad. As of a few weeks ago, you actually call Goofy by the right name. He’s no longer “Goopy”. Luckily you still say “Pooto”.

We had a ballet/princess birthday party for you yesterday. It was a pure delight to watch you interact with all your friends. My favorite part of the party was when you and your two little girlfriends were singing and dancing to “Let It Go” (because of course you were) and your brother and his friend belted out the chorus at the top of the stairs. It was pretty epic.

You are enthralled with babies and stuffed animals. Absolutely every cuddly thing you see is a “lovey” and you immediately want to bring it home with you. Pretty soon you won’t be able to get into your bed.

You also are a big fan of princesses. We watch Cinderella, Tangled and Frozen on the regular.

You want to be just like your big brother. The other day you told me you wanted to take ninastics (gymnastics), soccer, ballet and Tai-Kwan-Do. You were stoked to see your very own soccer ball in your pile of gifts.

You’re gradually figuring out how to count to 20, although you aren’t a fan of 14, 15 or 16.

Your father and I can’t get enough of you. We are constantly talking about the cute and adorable things that you do. Of course, you aren’t all sunshine and unicorns, but that’s okay. We’re working on your attitude and the screaming when you’re mad. Sometimes you make my ears ring!

I hope you stay as loving as you are. Right now, you are constantly hugging and kissing us, telling us you love us “so, so much”. You talk about your family, your grandparents, your aunts and uncles and want to hang out with them whenever you can.

I am excited to see all that this year has in store. Three is one of my most favorite ages and I can’t wait to see what silly, funny, sweet things you do.

Know that we love you with all our hearts.

Happy Birthday my best girl!
