The older I get, the weirder my skin gets.
As a teenager, I wore minimal make-up – powder and mascara only. In my 20’s, I realized that I needed to start wearing a daily SPF, but I wasn’t consistent. My 30’s have introduced rosacea, the beginnings of crow’s feet and several other new wrinkly friends.
For the past few months, my daily skin regiment has consisted of the following:
I wash nightly with Cetephil and then apply the NuSkin Truface ageLOC Tru Face Essence Ultra Essence, which helps firm up the skin. (Note, as much as I love this, it is pricey! I got it for a news segment.) In the mornings, I apply a moisturizer, then eye cream, then the Oil of Olay CC Cream. Some days that’s all I wear, especially if I’m just running to the gym and preschool. Other days I add MAC foundation and powder and ELF bronzer. I never leave the house without mascara.
Unfortunately, even with a prescription cream, the redness continues. As part of #takebackME, I invested in some new skin products that are supposed to help with redness. They are set to arrive next week so I’ll report back. I’ve also been researching multiple lines of cleansers and moisturizers.
Yesterday I went to the mall and replaced my foundation, powder and concealer. Last week I bought all new make up brushesfor my eye make-up, powder/blush, etc. Have you replaced yours lately? Think of all those little particles that grow on and in your containers. Ick.
When was the last time you bought new make-up? New brushes?
My challenge to you today is to go through all your skin care items – cleansers, moisturizers and make-up. If you haven’t used it in over a year, pitch it. Lip gloss and foundation needs to be replaced yearly; mascara every three months. Then hit the make-up aisle at CVS, Target, or the make-up counter at your favorite department store and buy something new. I know make-up can be expensive, but you don’t have to break the bank. Start with a new lipstick. It’s amazing how good it can make you feel.
What’s your daily skincare regiment?

Proactiv. For a long time now. It is the only thing that keeps my skin clear after YEARS of acne battles. Also, I do a modified Proactiv regimen. No toner, just wash and moisturizer. I find the toner to be too harsh and drying. Terrible acne when pregnant with Baby #1. I was fine with Baby #2. I really need an eye cream, though. Ugh! Crows feet creeping in for sure. 🙂
Those dang crow’s feet! I hate them 🙂
I splurge on new make up all the time 🙂 I’m sort of addicted.
I love the theme of this series, Erin. And a great reminder too…. it’s so easy to forget to replace makeup in the hustle and bustle of every day.
I figure your body doesn’t always look how you want, but clothing and make-up can do wonders 🙂
