My son is at the age where he’s interested in everything – soccer, karate, gymnastic and more! I’ve decided we can try one thing at a time and then he can decide which activities are his favorite.
So a few weeks ago, we went on the hunt for a gymnastic class. I wanted something skill-based and not through a dance class. We ended up at GymCarolina because it’s 2 inches from our house, but if you’re looking for a class, here are several options to choose from.
1. Raleigh School of Gymnastics (Hargrove Rd)
RSG has classes for babies, parent/tot, and toddlers – all coed. Beginner gymnastics start at age 5 with boys and girls in separate classes. All gymnasts will be professionally instructed on all of the Olympic events, plus trampoline
2. GymCarolina (Leesville Rd)
GymCarolina also offers parent/tot classes and preschool classes. Beginner classes (age 5 and up) focus on skills that increase strength and flexibility. They also offer tumbling for those who only want to focus on floor exercises.
3. North Raleigh Gymnastics (Atlantic Springs Rd)
North Raleigh Gymnastics offers the same as the others, but I thought it was interesting that they offer a recreational and beginner classes for kindergarten and up. I like that since not all kids are going to want to compete.
4. Kenney’s Gymnastics Academy (Daimler Rd near Hillsborough St)
Their program is designed for both the competitive gymnast and the recreational gymnast as well. They have classes for kids 18 months and up.
I’ve heard good things about all four of these gymnastics centers, so you probably can’t go wrong with any one of them. Prices vary. Some are monthly, some are paid by semester. If you have a little one interested in gymnastics for any reason, sign them up for a class. Almost all of them offer a free class.
