My City Monday: My Milkshake Brings All the Pounds to My Scale

August 26, 2013 By Erin L. 3 Comments

Mama loves a good milkshake. In fact, one of the only things I find lacking about the Raleigh area is the absence of a milkshake (or let’s face it, Starbucks) delivery service.

I’m extremely fortunate as a couple weeks ago, after expressing my frustration on Facebook at wanting a milkshake and unable to make it a reality as I was already in my pajamas, my neighbor dropped one off from Backyard Burger. HOLY YUM! I had never experience a Backyard Burger chocolate OREO milkshake before, but it has quickly elevated itself to one of my top favorite milkshakes in Raleigh.

The Banana milkshake from Cook-Out takes my number one spot. It is seriously TOO DIE FOR good. Their OREO shake is pretty awesome too! Seems I’m not alone in my love for Cook-Out, as when I asked on FB for “best place for a milkshake” it was BY FAR the most popular answer. I just wish there were more Cook-Outs in the area. I have to drive to Western or Capital to get my fix.

Wait, maybe that’s a good thing. Otherwise, I might weight 400 lbs.

Char Grill took second place, which surprised me, but I don’t ever go there, so what do I know?

Chuck’s, one of Ashley Christensen’s restaurants, was mentioned several times. I’m going to have to add this to my list of places to visit. Future date night maybe? Cowfish also had a long list of milkshakes, with and without alcohol, that must be tried sometime soon. The trouble there is I’m SO full by the time I finish dinner that there’s no room for anything else!

My favorite local coffee spot, Sola Coffee Cafe, has a shake made with espresso and ice cream from Homeland Creamery that is divine. I need to pay them a visit on a Saturday afternoon as I can’t replace my morning cup of joe with a milkshake. Well, maybe just once.

Spill it! Where’s your favorite place in the Triangle to get a milkshake? I plan to slowly make my way through the list. Mmmmmmm.

I miss Backyard BBQ so much! Was the first place I went to eat once I healed from my Wisdom teeth being pulled. Sure it took about an hour to eat that burger but damn it was good!
