I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately, but I think dark clouds are finally lifting. We’ve all been healthy (knock on wood) for almost two weeks now. The sun is shining, birds are chirping and flip flops are on.
I get so caught up in the day to day drudgery – laundry, making meals, picking up after the kids, yelling after the kids.
Please don’t antagonize your sister.
No, you may not have another snack.
Please get a tissue.
I need to let that stuff go. It’s not like it’s going anywhere.
Life is so much better when you just let go.
Then this morning I got a smack in the face about the important things. I opened an email from my godfather and time just stood still.
He was going through old negatives and found this picture. It’s amazing how few photos there are from this time period. I think we forget how lucky we are to be in an era of digital images and videos. While we have boxes of crinkled photos and yellowed albums, our children will have entire hard drives of their childhood.
The words poured out of this photo.
Slow down. Make memories. Play more. Work less. Just be. Enjoy it all.
Life is too short to get caught up in the mundane. I need to let the magic happen.
