A letter to my daughter on her second birthday

March 24, 2013 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

My darling E,
How is it possible that you are two years old? A year ago, you weren’t walking or talking. Today you run, you attempt to jump and you talk a mile a minute. Every day you have a new word, something else that I can understand, something that surprises me.

Just today you came up to me with a candle (I have no idea where you found it) saying “happy, happy?” You wanted me to light it just you could blow it out. We did this three times and when I said we needed to wait until cake time, you cried.

You are such a beauty. I find myself staring at you, taking in those eyes, those sweet cheeks.

Your personality is really starting to shine. You carry around your babies everywhere, loving them, patting them, singing to them. Oh, you love to sing and dance. You hum tunes and we know exactly which song it is. Where is Thumbkin and Twinkle, Twinkle are top on your list right now.

But oh, your attitude! You get so frustrated when we tell you no. You scream, throw things and even bite (not people, mind you, just things!) We’ll have to work on that my little one. Yes, we will.

This next year will bring a world of changes for you. I’m excited to hear you talk more, sing more. I’m curious to see what you love, what toys you play with, what you gravitate toward.
Lane Fall 2012 (51)

Through it all, know that mama and daddy love you immensely. You are a treasure my love. A true treasure.

Happy Birthday!

Love,
Mama

So, so sweet! Just know that ‘attitude’ comes back when they hit puberty. 😉
