Week in My Life: Tuesday’s Gone

October 24, 2012 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

I had a visitor again this morning – this time at 5 a.m.  I should have learned my lesson but in my sleep stupor, I pulled him into our bed.  Yeah, not a good idea. So around 5:30, we went back upstairs.  I made it back down into my own bed by 6 and woke up at 7:30.  I couldn’t believe it.  Of course, I’m fighting a cold, so I could have stayed in bed for another hour.

Needless to say, that sort of put us all into a rush.  Tuesdays are a school day for both kids.  I finally woke up Bug at 8:15 so he would have time to get his barings before we left at 8:50 for the day.

After dropping off the kids, I hit up the Starbucks drive-thru.  My plan was to go to the grocery store (ALONE!) and then head home to finish up a BabyCenter post and try and do some other work.  The universe had other plans.  As I finished going through the check-out at Lowe’s, my phone rang.  It was school.  Miss E had a fever.  So I booked it home, unloaded all the perishables and headed back to school to get my sickie.

We had an hour before we needed to be back to pick up her brother (I would have gone ahead and picked him up too but they had a visit from the fire department today and I didn’t want him to miss it!), so we went home and she played Peek a Boo Trick or Treat while I worked on a bit of writing.

After lunch, she went down for a nap and (you’ll see a trend here) Bug watched Madagascar 2.  Then he and I played spies and he captured this photo of me conspiring with Mater.

We had a great afternoon.  Despite being sick, the baby still wanted to play outside.  It was an absolutely, beautiful day so we rode bikes. played in more leaves and just generally ran around. I got a little camera happy and am totally in love with the shot of Bug’s big brown eyes.

Today was a special day – it was the husband and I’s EIGHT YEAR wedding anniversary.  My mom and sister were generous enough to come over and watch the kids so we could have a nice, romantic evening out.  How did we celebrate?  With sushi baby!

After a lovely dinner with great conversation, we weren’t quite ready to go home.  We couldn’t think of anything super exciting to do, so we went…to the mall.  I know it seems a little lame, but here’s the deal.  About three years go, the hub’s wedding ring was misplaced.  We kept thinking it was going to show up, but alas, it has not.  (I think the baby threw it away on accident.)  So several months ago, I went to the jeweler where we purchased it to see if we could just replace it.  Yeah, with the cost of gold, it would have been TRIPLE the price.  That was a big fat no.

At the mall, we went to a few jewelry stores just to see what his options were.  We didn’t buy anything but at least he can get his head around what all is out there.

When we got home, we pulled out the wedding album and ended our day reminiscing about how amazing and wonderful our celebration was.  What fantastic memories!

Tomorrow will NOT be a play-by-play of the entire day.  Too much going on.  Tomorrow I’ll take you through our bedtime routines instead.  Until then!

We’ve been trying to decide on a ring for my husband. Tungsten steel ones are pretty stylish, look GREAT, long-lasting, and weirdly enough, are super cheap. We could get him one for the average cost of some name brand tennis shoes from JCP (less than $100, sometimes even less than $50 :O).

I love the shots of you with Mater. So, he gives you his evil plots too? XD

Looking forward to the bedtime routines tomorrow. Loved the first shopping cart shot. You are such a good mom to let your little guy stay for the fun afternoon event. I’m sure he was appreciative. Love that eye shot! Happy Anniversary!
