I’ve spent the last week trying to decompress from my travels and absorb all of the amazing things I got to take part of in Charlotte last weekend. I have so much to say and share, but at this point, if I don’t just get it all out on the page, it’s not ever going to happen.
Last Thursday, I piled in the car with Melissa and Andrea, who are, without a doubt, the best road trip companions ever. Lots of chatting, brainstorming and, most importantly, a Frosty pit stop.
We arrived at the Hilton, met up with our 4th roomie, Fadra, and then went over to a fabulous restaurant, The Cowfish, for sushi and burgers. (Get ready Raleigh! Cowfish will be at North Hills in 2013!) The rest of the evening was spent waving and chatting with everyone we ran into.
On Friday, we kicked off the day with a great keynote by Chris Garret. I attended a fabulous hands-on session on “Landing Speaking Gigs” with Danielle Smith and Aliza Sherman. Thank you Danielle for reminding me to STOP APOLOGIZING!
Friday night was awesome. First a group of us hit up a local restaurant for dinner and drinks. Then we all got yummy Mickey Mouse drinks at a Disney cocktail party.
But the ultimate part of the evening was the Ubisoft sponsored 80’s theme party. I rocked a Jem and the Hologram wig. Enough said.
My dance team, The Madonna Be’s, took 3rd place!
Saturday was full of more awesome sessions and lots of time with new and old friends. (I even managed to squeeze in coffee with an old college friend!) The best part was the 2 hour dance party that ended our day. I haven’t moved like that in years. My body was in shock, but it was SO much fun. Totally took me back to my college days.
The weekend ended with an amazing keynote titled “We Still Blog” featuring the amazing Katherine Stone, Tanis Miller and Cecily Kellog. To say it was phenomenal is an understatement. I cried big, fat, ugly tears. Please read their posts; you won’t be sorry.
I brought my camera but didn’t take it out until the last day (because I’m a loser.) But here are a few pics that I took:
It was an amazing weekend. This post doesn’t even come close to doing it justice. Thank you Kelby and the entire Type A Parent crew for making this weekend possible.
And if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like in the hotel room of a blogging conference, check out the video my roomies and I made.

I just saw your video today. <3 this. Sorry I didn't get a pic with you – sometimes that happens w/the people you tend to see more often. Looking forward to NYC! woo hoo!
