Today I’m talking with Andrea from the blog, Lil Kid Things. I am fortunate to be friends with Andrea and our kids are very close in age. She makes a perfect playdate.
Tell us why you started Lil Kid Things – I have been blogging since I was in college. I went through several life changes before settling on parenting as my

blog’s focus. Lilkidthings is a nickname I chose after watching the outtakes from one of my favorite movies, Zoolander. Most things in my life can be traced back to Will Ferrell in some way 🙂
What are your favorite things to write about? I definitely write about my kids, but I get the most fulfillment from writing about motherhood and encouraging other moms. You will also find the occasional home project or recipe if the mood strikes.
Besides your adorable children, what are your biggest inspirations for writing? Writing is my therapy. I always say that I would write if no one were reading and believe me, I did for years. Getting the thoughts out of my head and into the universe does wonders for my mental health.
Are you going to any conferences this year? Which ones? Yes! I am definitely going to Type-A-Parent and Blogher. It will be my second time for both and I can’t wait.
Any exciting plans for 2012? Professionally, 2012 is all about getting published. I am currently shopping a children’s picture book around and have another proposal to finish before looking for an agent. I have always wanted to be published so my goal this year is to at least get something in the works! Personally, I am excited that my 3 year old just started preschool and my baby will turn 1 this summer. I feel like we are really starting to find our groove as a family and I anticipate a really great year for all of us!
Be sure and stop by her blog and say hello! And stay tuned for next week’s awesome NC blogger.
Love my NC bloggers.
Good luck with the book Andrea! You two make me wish I lived in NC so I could crash those playdates!
Good luck with your books. See you at Type A and BlogHer!
A children’s book too, Andrea! I’m amazed at all the things you do with two kids. As a mom with two kids too, I find that I can barely conquer my daily to-do list. And I envy (in a good way) those that do! I love your blog and am thrilled I got to know you a little better at BBC.
