A New Mother’s Wardrobe

May 2, 2011 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

So…this Thursday is National Moms Nite Out. Locally, my friend Molly has worked her tail off with the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to put together an amazing evening for the Triangle Social Media Moms. It’ll be my first night out without the baby (heck, it’s my first night out post baby period. Sorry honey!  We’ll get a sitter soon!)

The obvious question here is WHAT THE HELL AM I GOING TO WEAR?

As any new mother would attest, the 4th trimester is just as hard, if not harder, than the first three.  I live in the same outfit every day of the week – a nursing tank or tee and yoga pants.  I have no shame in admitting that sometimes I also sleep in said outfit. Now I have to figure out how to make my tired, hair in a ponytail, no make-up self look somewhat sassy in just a few days. I don’t have time to get my hair done (whoa nelly, can we say ROOTS!?) And I don’t think my stretchy yoga pants are going to cut it.   HELP!

I welcome any advice or suggestions.  I’m thinking Miss E and I might have to hit up Sephora for a new blush or lipstick.  Or maybe I could find some sexy sandals that could sufficiently sassy up a non-form fitting dress in my closet.  What do you think I should wear?  What did you do post baby to make you feel like your old self?

I had to go to my company Christmas party about a month after giving birth to my son. Clothes were not my friend. I got some shapewear for my tummy area and that made a big difference in how I felt in my clothes.

Can you fit into your pre-baby clothes yet? If so, find something you feel comfortable in and rock it! If not, treat yourself to an outfit during your transitioning stage. No matter what, you will look beautiful.

Also, get your nails done if you are into that kind of thing. Always makes me feel pretty :).

A nice summer sun dress, empire waist, and some HOT sandles, maybe a new pretty necklace. I have had some success with a maxi-dress from Target- so comfy and cute. Have fun!

Oh boy, I think my forth trimester lasted a year or so….and Ann above is right…shape-wear is your best friend.

Most importantly…don't worry about it and enjoy an awesome night out!

maxi dress, flat sandals…and a cute jacket. Super funky earrings and do your makeup really well. Then people will notice your face and fab-o accessories instead of what probably feels more flab-o to you than fab-o! You are gorgeous though girl…so own it!!!
