6 months down….just a few to go….

August 21, 2008 By Erin L. Leave a Comment

Yeah for being 6 months.

According to BabyCenter.com, this is what is currently going on with Little Man Lane:
Your baby’s growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he’ll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

I had my first encounter with a “rude” person today…ie. a person who is clueless on how insensitive they sound when they comment on another’s persons body. I went to a Triangle Marketing Association Meeting and there was another pregnant woman there, who was a little on the larger side (I’m trying to be nice here….rock on, being the bigger person.) She asks me when I’m due. I tell her December. She says “September?”. I said, “No, December.” No lie, she then looks at my stomack, looks up at me and says, WOW. Now what do you say to that? )@(#$*_)$#@*@)#(*$
I couldn’t very well cuss her out. So I smiled and just made my way through the food line, all the while thinking I should have said something clever like “at least I’m carrying my baby only in the front instead ALL OVER MY ENTIRE BODY!!” But I didn’t. Isn’t that always the way? New belly pic to come.

You should have totally asked her when her triplets were due…
Seriously, people just don’t think before they speak! I know you look beautiful, belly and all. Can’t wait to see the new pic.

It’s very very normal to get comments going both ways (according to my prego book)- I’ve gotten “wow are you carrying twins” and when I say no they come back with “are you sure you’re not carrying twins” and I’ve only gained 18 lbs. at 34 weeks. I mean people just don’t know how bad it sounds. You know everyone is different and everyone will carry their baby different. You look PERFECT and I’m proud of you- It would’ve taken all my strength in this crazy horomonal phase not to say something back to her.

How RUDE!!! Good for you though for being the bigger person (no pun intended) and not stooping to her level of insensitivity.
