Fall sports means the search for snacks is on

Kraft-Heinz sponsored this post, but the opinions are my own.

Fall baseball season is well underway, which means a week night practice, Saturday morning games and lots of scrambling throughout the week.

This is our final year at the organization we’re at as Mr A is aging out. He’s learned a lot about the game, improved his swing, excelled at catching…all in a low-key environment. Which means we’ve all had fun…the most important aspect of sports at this age, in my opinion.

Of course with practice and games comes my son’s favorite part – SNACKS!

I don’t know what it is with kids, but as much fun as they have playing whatever sport is in season, they seem to LOVE the end of the game even more…because food. Obviously. It doesn’t matter if it’s fruit, chips or granola bars, those kids EAT. IT. UP.

I always give the kids a choice when it’s our day for snack. But I make sure their options will help hydrate them and put a little energy back in their step.

I just learned about CapriSun Sport and we’re excited to add this to our snack day repertoire. We already drink CapriSuns for school lunches, so this was a happy find for this mom. Of course all the boys bring water bottles, but I like giving them something after the game to replace their electrolytes.

The big difference between CapriSun Sport and other sports drinks – 25% fewer calories. Couple that with  no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and I feel good about giving that to the entire team.

My son also needs some food after the game. (And let’s be honest, Miss E uses practice and game day as an excuse to tell me how STARVING she is for that ONE hour she is forced to endure her brother’s activity.) Now that I’ve been at Bootcamp for several months, I’ve learned the importance of getting some protein into your diet immediately after a good sweat session.

Plantars has these P3 Protein Snacks with 13g of protein per serving. It includes peanuts, beef jerky and sunflower seeds.  Not only are these great for the kids but Mom and Dad like them too. I’ve started to put these in my purse and at my desk  for a mid-afternoon snack and my husband eats whatever the kids don’t. (The peanuts have a chipotle flavoring that is a bit spicy for my kids.)

I’ll note that I can’t bring the Plantars P3 for the entire team as our league has a no nuts rule for all team snacks. But I bring them for after practice (it ends at 7pm so Mr. A is super hungry at that point) and the drive home.

Both of these items are available at Walmart. The kids know exactly where to look when our supply starts to run low. You can find the CapriSun Sport will all the other juice pouches and the P3 is found in the nut aisle. On Walmart.com, you can find them here.

Making sure you have plenty of snacks available during sports seasons can be time consuming. I like have a few things on hand that we can just grab and go. It makes my life SO much easier…and sometimes that’s exactly what I need.

What are your favorite SPORTS DAY snacks?

I have been wanting to try those P3 snacks but haven’t gotten around to it just yet. We don’t play sports just yet (my son is only 2!), but I bet a banana and a Justin’s almond butter pouch would be a great protein-packed snack as well!
