Holiday Gift Guide: Toddlers and Preschoolers

by Erin L. on November 12, 2012

I’m smack in the middle of my holiday shopping and right now, I’m wishing I had a check list that will simply tell me exactly what I should buy for my kids.  My almost four year old is no help.

“What do you want Santa to bring you for Christmas, buddy?”  “EVERYTHING!”

Awesome. Thanks for the insights.

Since I don’t have that checklist, I thought the least I could do was to make a short holiday gift guide for you all based on what I’ve found so far.  So without further adieu, here are twelve toys that should make for a very happy holiday for your little ones.

TODDLERS (1+)

Baby Stella Doll

Any little girl who uses a pacifier needs this doll. My daughter simply adores hers. $34.99

Baby Farm Friends Bowling

How adorable is this?  I can’t wait to play with this on Christmas morning. $24.99

Creative Baby i-Mat

This gift is perfect for any child between 1-4.  Both of my children enjoy playing the interactive games and dancing to the musical interludes when you choose certain animals. $79.00

ABC Abacus

I love this abacus from Land of Nod! Simple and educational – perfect for your little learner. $29.00

Skip Hop Alphabet Zoo – Rock & Stack Pull Toy
I was so excited to see the line of wooden toys that Skip Hop launched at the ABC Kids Show.  My daughter would love each and every one of them.  The Zoo Pull Toy is the one that I think will end up under our tree. $20.00

Blabla Doll Wooly Mini

This adorable sheep will keep little ones company wherever they go. $42.00

PRESCHOOL SET (3-5)

Green Toys Seaplane

Made from recycled milk jugs, this plane is perfect for playing in or out of the water. Designed to float in the bath or pool.  $19.99

Leapfrog Tag Reader (or Tag Junior!)

Bug is definitely getting interested in reading.  He points out letters during our nightly story time and wants to know what letters certain words start with. So we’re hopping on the LeapFrog band wagon.  (Yay for a sale at Toys R Us!) $39.99

Musical Band

I know I may regret this one, but it’s just SO cool.  Yes, it’s loud.  Yes, it’ll probably give me a headache or tw0, but my son would FLIP! $54.99

Off Broadway Puppet Theater

The theater geek in me adores this set!  I’m hoping my son and I will create our own shows for years to come. $39.00

The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Game

Great game that helps develops matching, sorting, strategic thinking, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and pre-handwriting skills. $19.99
