I wasn’t sure how this Christmas would be with a two year old. He’s not quite old enough to get the whole “Santa” thing, but I hoped he was old enough to understand presents and being with lots of family.
He saw LOTS of family…and it was absolutely wonderful.
One of the most magical moments of our entire weekend was on Christmas Eve when my grandfather poured everyone a glass of champagne for a Christmas toast. Bug immediately wanted his own cup of water so he could clink glasses with everyone. He then stood between my grandparents and watched intently while we all sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”. We then sang lots of other carols and he stood there mesmerized, taking in all the joy that is family.

On Christmas morning, he helped pass out presents and then sat happily with coloring books and $1 Store stocking stuffers.
All in all, it was a perfect 24 hours and a great reminder that sometimes being with family is all that you need. Too bad we couldn’t capture the perfect family photo…this one will have to suffice.

What a great recap of xmas with a toddler! Ours is 2 1/2 so sorta got it a little more. I was determined not to "hook" him on presents but after almost 5 hours of it dragging on with opening stuff I opted to put some stuff away (ie for birthday or another day) and push to get the last couple opened.
It's definitely an adventure! Thanks for sharing your story!
