A Letter to My Son – Year Two

My darling Bug,
I cannot begin to comprehend that it was just two years ago that you came into my life. Two years ago I heard your wondrous cry as you took your first breaths of life.  My son.  My firstborn.

You have grown so much over the past year.  Everything about you seems to have changed.  Every day brings new joy, new discovery and wonderment.  Last year at this time, I paused to reflect on all that you had become and was astounded.  This year is no exception.  You are growing. You are changing.

With the impending arrival of your little sister, I am clinging to every moment with you.  Every smile.  Every new word.  Every sly glance as you learn how to be sneaky.  It’s truly fascinating and I find myself grieving as some of this time passes.  It’s time I won’t get back. I treasure every second.

Your little personality is wonderful.  I love playing games with you, chasing you and watching you tackle your father.  Seeing you with him is one of God’s greatest gifts – my two favorite boys.  The loves of my life.

I wish you joy and happiness this year.  I wish for you acceptance as we add to our family.  Know that our love for you only deepens and that having your sister completes our family, completes the circle.  I wish you patience for all that you are learning. Life is hard and I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to say the same thing over and over again but no one understands you. Keep trying.

Thank you for giving my life purpose. Today, I celebrate you.

Today, I celebrate the day you made me a mother.

Hugs and kisses,

Happy Birthday Bug!
